Life is Fragile

I will precede by saying Nora is fine, however my extended family is in deep need of prayer. My Uncle Bill lost his life this afternoon after he hit a deer on his motorcycle while traveling on the highway. Please specifically pray for my Aunt Margie (my Dad’s sister), her daughters, their families and all of Bill’s family and relatives and friends. We are all reminded through this of just how fragile life is–none of us knowing the day or the hour. I never thought that the last time I saw Bill it would be the last. No one did. The sound of his contageous laughter echoes in my mind and I am certain that he’s laughing right now with all of the wonders of heaven. It’s just excruciating for everyone who has been left behind. Bill, you will be very, very missed.

Just before I received the terrible news, the Easter Bunny was on his way into our house. I am ever so grateful for our dear friends Jen and Bryan (and Kelly too!!) for helping to keep some sort of normal here for the kids. Gavin and Greta had SOOO much fun dyeing Easter eggs with you! Thank you so much!

“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”
(John 3:16 NLT)

Through Christ’s death and resurrection we are given the promise of new life. I give thanks and praise that this applies to all of us who accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. I give thanks and praise that we WILL be reunited with our loved ones when our time is up on this earth, just as Bill was today. In the mean time I pray that the void left in the lives of everyone who knew and loved Bill will be filled by the Holy Spirit, the peace that surpasses all understanding.

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
(Psalm 23 NIV)

  1. I am so sorry for your loss and will certainly pray for you and your whole extended family who are now grieving. One of my favorite Easter hymns is “I Know That My Redeemer Lives.” (http://cyberhymnal.org/htm/i/k/iknowtha.htm) All of the verses are wonderful, but I’ll quote a few here as a prayer with and for you and your family.

    “I know that my Redeemer lives;
    What comfort this sweet sentence gives!
    He lives, He lives, who once was dead;
    He lives, my ever living Head.

    He lives to silence all my fears,
    He lives to wipe away my tears
    He lives to calm my troubled heart,
    He lives all blessings to impart.

    He lives and grants me daily breath;
    He lives, and I shall conquer death:
    He lives my mansion to prepare;
    He lives to bring me safely there.

    He lives, all glory to His Name!
    He lives, my Jesus, still the same.
    Oh, the sweet joy this sentence gives,
    I know that my Redeemer lives!”

    May the joy we celebrate at Easter bring comfort to your family. Psalm 30:1-5.

  2. So sorry to hear about your uncle’s death.
    Praying for your Aunt and the rest of the family. But we as Christians believe that death is the beginning of eternity when we will see God face to face.
    The children look so cute and happy with the Easter Rabbit… Muuahhh

  3. Aleisa and Family – may the Peace of Our Lord’s Resurrection comfort you as you mourn your uncle. As I looked at the pictures of your smiling children, I saw God’s love shining down. Your everyday faith reminds us that the New Life of Easter is with us at all times-not just one day. Loved Nora’s squeals!

  4. May Easter bring your family hope as they reel from the sudden loss of your Uncle Bill. Prayers for consolation.
    God bless.

  5. I am so very sorry to hear this news. Life is so very fragile, indeed. Sometimes it takes tragedy to fully realize this. I will be keeping your family in my prayers. I have been thinking of Nora non stop and praying for her heart rate to return to normal. Is everything ok on that front?

  6. Alesia, may God comfort your family during this trying time. There is no logic to be found. All we have is faith. He died on the cross for us and we will return to Him.

  7. Alesia, I am so sorry to hear about your Uncle Bill. I will be praying for all of the family. Please hug that sweet little girl for me and tell her I said Happy 1st Easter Beautiful Girl! Love you all!!

  8. Aleisa, I am so sorry!! I will be praying for your Uncle Bill. I pray that your Aunt Margie and their daughters can find comfort today in our Lord’s Resurrection. I will continue to keep your family in my prays.

  9. I am sorry. Life has some tough, very sad days, but that photo of Uncle Bill and Aunt Margie tells me that they loved well. And, Praise God, they will be reunited some day. I will pray for strength for Bill’s family. And, for Peace in their hearts.

    I wish our girly-girl, Precious Nora Rose a Happy 1st Easter! Enjoy this very special, oh so Holy Day together, sweet Friends. I love you all! ~ Auntie Jo

  12. While this surely probably wasn’t the a fully “happy” Easter for your family, I do hope your family had some good times today. Praying for peace and comfort. Always thinking of Miss Nora Rose.

  13. So sorry for the loss of your Uncle Bill. I will be praying for your Aunt Margie and extended family.
    Continued thought and prayers for Nora and her heart.
    God bless your family through these trying times.

  14. ALEISA, I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR UNCLE BILL. YOUR AUNT MARGIE AND ALL THE REST OF YOUR UNCLE BILL’S FAMILY IS IN MY PRAYERS. I PRAY GOD WILL GIVE YOU ALL STRENGTH TO GET THROUGH THIS HARD TIME. TELL YOUR DAD I AM SO SORRY FOR THE LOSS OF HIS BROTHER, AS I KNOW IT IS SO HARD TO LOSE A BROTHER OR SISTER. HOPE YOU ALL HAD A GOOD EASTER WITH YOUR BEAUTIFUL FAMILY. I WILL NOT BE ON HERE FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS, AS I HAVE TO GO TO INDIANA AND STAY WITH MY GREAT NIECE. MY NIECE AND HER HUSBAND HAS TO GO TO CHICAGO, AS HER HUSBAND HAS TO GO THROUGH SOME VERY BAD SURGERY. THEY HAVE TO WORK VERY CLOSE TO HIS SPINE, AND ONE SLIP OF THE KNIFE CAN PARALYZE HIM FROM THE NECK DOWN. THIS IS MY 2 NIECES THAT LOST THEIR MOTHER (MY SISTER) IN JANUARY. I FEEL GOOD ABOUT THIS SURGERY, AND THINK EVERYTHING WILL GO GOOD. YOU ALL WILL BE IN MY PRAYERS EVERY DAY, AND I PRAY THAT NORA JUST KEEPS IMPROVING AS SHE HAS BEEN. SHE IS REALLY A SWEETHEART, AND A BEAUTIFUL LITTLE GIRL. I WILL MISS READING ABOUT YOU, NORA ROSE AND THE REST OF YOUR FAMILY. YOU ALL HAVE GIVEN ME SO MUCH STRENGTH. I LOVE YOU ALL VERY MUCH. MAY GOD BLESS YOU EACH AND EVERY DAY. BE BACK ON AS SOON AS I GET BACK FROM INDIANA.
