Nora – 10 Days Old

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. (Galatians 5:22-23 NIV)

The sleep deprivation has officially caught up with me. And of course that coincides with my sweet little miss’s sudden inclination for evening fuss interludes. I’m up for second helpings of “Fruit (of the Spirit) Salad”!

William and I had an awesome morning. Nora’s 10 am pediatrician appointment went great! Nora gained half of an ounce and is striding right along. “All things considered, we could not ask for Nora to be doing any better than she is,” Dr. Bolling stated. Were I physically able, I would have done cartwheels out of there. I was so happy to hear that. Also, the heart murmur that was detected Monday could not be heard at this appointment.Ā  (!!!) We do have the echocardiogram scheduled for Monday morning. We’re all anxious to see what is really going on in that tiny little chest!

As we were leaving the appointment we received an awesome, unexpected blessing. I had already climbed into the backseat of the car with Nora. William was about to get in when a woman parked next to us rolled down her window. “Excuse me,” she said, “I just wanted to let you know that we’ve been praying for you!” She had never met us, only recognized us from the blog, yet boldly decided to speak out. By doing so she completely made our day! We had permanent smiles etched on our faces at yet another example of just how many lives little Nora has touched. Thank you, Jennifer for your courage in saying something to us and for praying for us! That was awesome!

Here are a couple of random, but very sweet pictures from today:

Thanks for the advice on Nora’s clogged tear ducts! The breastmilk seemed to do a great job at keeping the crusties away! We did get a prescription for some eye medicine too. Hopefully it will be minimal tomorrow — or gone!!

I started a group on Facebook called “Praying for Nora Rose Yusko”. If you’re not already a part of it, check it out! šŸ™‚

  8. Have been following your blog and story through friends at Crossroads. Nora is so blessed to have such a devoted, strong, courageous family. I am the proud mama of my precious 5 week old daughter Evelina. I am praying for the day that our little ones can meet in kids club and take a ride down the kid city slide together! šŸ™‚ I have never been more grateful for my Evelina’s fussy moments! I pray we both have many more nights of fussiness!

  9. I grew up not religious at all. My parents came from the most extreme religion ever and it pushed them away. Just recently after…..losing my best friend in a car accident…..witnessing my sister losing a baby and then giving birth to baby boy and finding out he has a sever genetic disorder…I have realized there has to be a higher power. I have to believe that there is someone looking after us. There is a purpose for us all being here. I found your blog and it verified that God is here. He is all around us. And deeply I know that he loves us and was here the whole time. It has taken a few things in my life to get me to realize this…..THIS BLOG was a huge part of it. I am praying every single night for Nora and your family!!!! Thank you for sharing all of this with us!!!!

    • This blog is so amazing to me for so many reasons and one of them I have come to love is reading the comments and how God is touching other people’s lives through it. Yours just made me cry. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. He is very real and very near and it has absolutely nothing to do with religion at all. He only wants a relationship with an honest heart. Not perfect, just honest. Many blessings to you on this most amazing journey!

  10. Praise God from whom all blessings flow! I am a friend of Kerri Metzger’s. I’ve been faithfully following your blog and praying for your sweet girl Thank you for being such an amazing testimony to our Lord.

  11. Thank you, again, for starting my day off on the right foot. Aleisa….. GET SOME SLEEP! Need a sitter for a few hours? Sounds like Nora misses me… hence the fussiness. Just say the word! May God continue to bless you beyond measure for all of your faith and trust that you have put in Him.

Lord, give momma the rest she needs! Amen!

  18. We don’t know each other, but I came accross your video/blog from a friend on mine on facebook, who’s daughter was diagnosed with Trisomy 18 as well, and is now 6 months old and doing wonderfully! I just wanted you to know, as a mommy of 2, my heart ached for you watching your slide show of pictures of Nora’s birth and reading your blog. I am so overjoyed that she is home! She is precious. I think of her so often throughout the day and am praying for her! Ok, ((hugs)) .

  19. Very happy about this post! Go Nora Go! Don’t be surprised if Nora’s eye clears up, then gets gunky again. Charlie (9.5 months) still has trouble with his… It will be fine for a while, then get all crusty, and repeat. We’ve found breastmilk, massage, and medicine when it’s super gunky seem to be the best trick for Charlie.

  20. Just found out about your blog from a friend on facebook, have caught up with you guys and wanted to let you know we are praying for your little one and her amazing parents! God Bless you and yours.
