Tuesday
“Oh hi! It’s me, Norns! I’m just enjoying some breakfast milkies on my morning jog with Mommy!”
“We had a nice jog, but Mommy really needs to step it up a pace.”
“It’s hard work being Mommy’s coach.”
Wednesday
“Here we go on another jog!”
“Mommy did a little bit better. This time I decided she’d be alright on her own, so I took the opportunity to get a little napskies in. Aaah, this weather sure is nice!!!”
“Here I am working with some things in physical therapy. I’m learning how to press this big red button. When I do my toy lights up. This will teach me cause and effect. I’m hoping to get a job somewhere doing this, maybe at a bank, or a sign company? Must work on my résumé…”
“Yeah. Will someone bring me a milks?”
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
(Psalm 139:13, 14 NIV)
===========
Nora’s cold is still lingering – going on Day 10 now. There is still lots of drainage which triggers the gags which triggers the pukes. And of course the “never ending” belly troubles. We were giving her 30 mL of prune juice before each feed, but since her cold came about, that was a guaranteed puking episode. We’ve been adding 10 mL of juice to each bottle without her noticing and I’ve also introduced her to prune baby food. Just not sure of how much is enough. We’ve been up with her for much of the night with lots of belly troubles. It’s so sad and frustrating not to be able to help her when she’s hurting. 😦 I hope and pray she outgrows these issues someday!
Hang tight, Nora! I’ll be there Tuesday. Simple case of “I miss Kate” is all. Prayers for that dang cold to see it’s way OUT!!!
Having been in the “belly troubles” boat with Brodie, I know how hard it is as a mom to watch your child be uncomfortable or in pain like that and not be able to figure out the solution. Sometimes it feels like you’re just going in circles with no end in sight! You are doing an AMAZING job of caring for Nora, and I pray for peace and wisdom as things will eventually get sifted out and answers will come. It helped me when I (finally!) realized that I didn’t have to have a plan for weeks (or even days) down the road–if something works today, go with it!–and rest in the knowledge that if/when you need to change the plan again there are many people supporting you through it. And in the midst of the always changing picture, your love for Nora remains–what a blessing and what a picture of God’s love for us! Thank you for giving us a glimpse!!!
I will keep praying for comfort for the belly. I is so good to see the two of you out of your play room and around God’s beautiful creation. See you soon.
Aleisa, have you tried the podee bottle system? I used them with my babies and they were a God-send. My youngest had (ok still has some) belly issues and these bottles cut down on a lot of them. It may be worth a try http://www.podee.com/
Uff, poor Mommy. Sleepless nights are the worst. I’ve had a cold during 10 days too ( to keep up with the Yuskos, haha).
A mucolytic drug such as ambroxol can help with the gag reflex and puking because it makes mucus less dense and the extraction easier. For children just a teaspoon is enough. Sold over – the -counter ( at least here).
Belly problems: is there something you haven’t tried out? . I’d give the probiotics another try . Homeopathy for babies ? ( it worked for one of my friends’ baby after trying everything).
Ok, will keep praying. Love you go to jog together. This baby keeps you fit !!. Muuuaahh 🙂
LITTLE MISS NORA SURE ENJOYS THOSE JOGGING TRIPS. I LIKE HER STYLE, JUST LAY BACK AND ENJOY THE RUN. HA! HA! HOPE AND PRAY HER LITTLE BELLY STARTS FEELING BETTER REAL SOON. LOVE YOU ALL. GOD BLESS.
