Today’s visit to Children’s Hospital had an assortment of highlights and lowlights. We were told that the possibility of Nora’s heart causing her oxygen levels to drop is not likely. It is now being suggested that it is her lungs that are causing the problems. That news has had me in a funk for much of the day, or perhaps the way it was presented to us.
The highlight of our visit were a couple of people who recognized us from our blog. One was a sweet nurse and the other was the sweet mother of an adorable little boy who was boarding the elevator we were on. Our appointment had ended and we were anxious to get back home. I was feeling a little discouraged and sensitive there in the elevator. The elevator stopped on a floor to let some more passengers on. As the doors opened, I was met with the beaming smile of a woman who excitedly exclaimed, “Nora Rose!!” I had never met her before. When she introduced herself I immediately recognized her name as a new friend on Facebook. She had mentioned in her own post earlier that they too would be there at the hospital. That moment was another God hug. She explained in a message to me later in the day that she too had been feeling a little down. The chance meeting reminded her of God’s presence in our lives and the power of our faith. She worried that maybe she had overstepped her bounds by saying something to us. I assured her that was not at all the case, in fact, far from it!! I love to meet people who are following the blog and I promise we’re very approachable!
If you are familiar with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital you know that it is not a small place! Of all of the departments, hallways, corridors, rooms and elevators – you mean to tell me that our brief but substantial meeting was a coincidence??? We both needed that special moment. God knew that and cares about us so much that he would go out of His way to ensure that our paths crossed. Thank you, God!
Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. (Galatians 6:2 NIV)

Thousands of us would come to Children’s Hospital right now if you said the word ……. Maybe, someday, I will be as blessed! Until then, please know that we all hurriedly open your blog every morning to see how everyone is doing. That must feel amazing to know that! As a believer in the all-powerful God, your steadfast faith has inspired me beyond measure, and little Nora Rose has clearly changed all of us!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU for your courage and faith in what is true and real and I hope this verse explains my constant prayer for you: “May the God of HOPE fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with HOPE by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 15:13). All of your FB friends are waiting for you to give us something to do…. do you need financial assistance, gift cards, groceries, babysitters, encouragement cards???? she’s getting so big!! look at those precious chubby cheeks. such a beautiful girl
I just wanted to tell you that my son also has some lung issues. He was born 12 weeks premature last August (spent 95 days at Children’s) and was diagnosed with BPD and Chronic Lung. I’m not sure if those are the same things they’ve diagnosed for little Nora, but if that’s the case, it will get better as her lungs get bigger. She’s such a strong miracle and has already overcome so much. This is just another stepping stone! Prayers for you!
Thanks for sharing your news. This really helps us to pray specifically for Nora’s needs. What a blessing to get a God hug just when you needed it! And btw, my 9 year old and I were “fighting” over the phone this morning (even though we have a computer sitting nearby) trying to read through your blog post. 🙂 These posts will always be something we share as we pour over them, cry through them and pray for sweet Nora Rose. She’s become a part of our family.
Continued prayer for precious Nora!!! What a blessing to be met by a FB friend in the hospital. It always amazes me how God works out so many sweet details in our lives. He LOVES us SO much. xoxo
