Nora – 9 Days Old

The little miss is 9 days old and doing wonderful but for her poor clogged tear ducts. Her little eyes look pathetic today. Hopefully that will clear up soon!

Nora spent the day cuddling, sleeping and eating. She also went on her very first walk up to the mailbox.

Her big sister LOVES her!

I just have time for a quick update this evening. Nora is a little fussier than normal. We’re so used to her being quiet and content. She’s starting to act like a “typical” fussy baby, which is good!!! {Never thought I’d say THAT!!}

Again, I can’t thank you enough for all of your prayers and your amazing, beautiful comments. I wish I could respond to each and every one. William and I are touched and often moved to tears as we read them. Thank you!

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. (Isaiah 43:2 NIV)

  1. Oh…..that photo of Guggie is the best! Nothing need be said – just look at that photo of pure love of innocent, darling little Gugs and her baby sister. Makes me smile and cry at the same time. ❤

  2. Oh, I hope that her tear ducts clear up! Both Alex and Megan had problems with theirs and had to have them opened. Alex had it done in the dr’s office, but Megan had to have surgery. Poor baby! And mommy!

  3. Fussyness is great! I once almost had a panic attack with Alexandria in the first few days we had her, she was fussy and convulsing and then I realized…. she had the hiccups. 🙂 Nora is such a loved little girl, your family is very blessed, it’s wonderful to see and read your comments and see God at work.

  4. I am so moved by your story. Nora is not only a gift to you but to the world as well. Please know that now you will never be alone in this journey. My prayers are with you always.

  5. Yusko family – my twins were in Greta’s dance class a couple of years ago and we live on the street next to yours. You are in my thoughts and prayers constantly. Nora Rose is such a beautiful and precious little angel. What a lucky little baby to have such a wonderful family. Thank you for your inspiring words. You have changed my life and thousands of others. I will continue to pray for your entire family and thank God for your little miracle, Nora Rose. She is changing the world!

  6. i’m in love, in awe, mostly speechless and incredibly grateful for you, nora and this blog. my baby girl had blocked tear ducts too. SO elated for you that you have been able to breastfeed her some. as i type this, i’m breastfeeding my baby boy and i’ve been motivated by you to slow down, enjoy the peace of his sleepy breathing, soft skin, fleeting infancy. Nora is sooooo sooooo beautiful. thank you for carrying her and sharing her with us. i’m shouting from the rooftops what a blessing she is so that everyone will come see what God has done!

  7. So thrilled to be a part of this journey. I trust in your strength!

A trick tear duct tip…squeeze a little bit of breastmilk in her eyes…I know it sounds funny but does wonders for eye infections and clogged ducts.

Looking forward to seeing Nora grow!

    With love, admiration and prayers!

    Kath

  8. Warm compress on her eyes! And take your thumb and press lightly..a quarter inch from where her duct starts to the bridge of her nose. Both sides several times a day. Warm compress after the movements. I have to do that with my little girl…her tear ducts are said to be underdevelope says her ped…might need surgery.she has had several problems as she has gotten older. She just turned 8 months and is only 24in and 14lbs.

  9. just found out your blog, and now you are in my thoughts and prayers… your family is amazing, your daughter the sweetest thing, really… LOVE, silvy

  13. Greta looks just like you in the bottom picture, holding Nora!!! Continuing to pray for you, your family and lifting Nora up in prayer always.

  14. Speechless everyday with every update you post. Nora is darling! If her eyes are red try a little drop of breast milk. May seem crazy but it has perfect antibodies made just for her:) and a warm compress. I will continue to pray for your amazing family!

  15. Ok, so I have to STOP reading your blog at work. I cannot help but cry tears of joy every time I read the updates of your little miracle. However the rumors are flying as to why I am crying at my desk every day. I wish you calm waters, little worry, and much love on your journey parenting Nora. Thank you for sharing your story.

  16. aleisa!!! my smart phone died and my internet is squirrelly so i haven’t had a chance until now to come and see that nora is here!!!
    congrats a million times over!
i remember when jedidiah had a gassy night bc i had eaten some bean soup- it was kind of a normal problem- and i was SO thankful for having to deal with a normal baby problem- i held his legs up most of the night with a pillow supporting my hand. i won’t ever forget that!
she is utterly beautiful. what peace. radiating really.
i’ll keep praying for you- and hopefully my internet will behave so i can come check in and smile on her tomorrow:)

  17. I don’t have time to read all the comments, so I don’t know if it has been suggested, but breastmilk is wonderful for clogged tear ducts. It contains antibodies and works fast. I would feed my babies in bed on my side, and drip it right in from my other breast. God’s antibiotic.

  18. Thank you so much for sharing Nora’s remarkable life with all of us. It is so inspiring reading about her everyday. It has renewed my faith in God and shown me that miracles do happen each and every day. You are a very strong woman to open yourself up and share this difficult experience with us. God has truly blessed you and your family and I pray that you will have many more days with Nora. Your story exemplies the saying “Live each day to the fullest”. God Bless all of you.

  21. I’m am new to your blog and I am just blown away at the beauty and love your family is expressing and willing sharing with others. Your testimony of the Father’s Love rings loud and clear. I am the blessed mother of 7 children. 2 of my children have Down syndrome, and we have walked a very rugged journey with our youngest son, Mattie.

Rejoicing with you with each beautiful update of another day of celebrating Nora’s beautiful life.

  22. Aleisa,

I too have followed your story since I was directed to your blog from another blog I read right after she was born. I have been so touched and moved. Nora is gorgeous and I continue to marvel at her beauty. What you are doing and have done is just remarkable. I look forward to every update on this precious, amazing miracle life. I agree with the other poster, that it does make me slow down with my own child and realize how precious this time is. My 14 month old had clogged ducts and I was so worried and they cleared up with warm compresses and the same support everyone above is recommending. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I cannot thank you enough for taking time out to share her life with each and every one of us. It is so awesome.

  23. Hello, Jessica from England here.
Nora is just a beautiful darling. Thank you for sharing your precious little light with us!
I am not religious, but find immense faith in your hope and courage. There is no doubt that Nora was brought as a perfect little message to tell us all how to live beautifully present in each moment we are given.
Take good care of yourselves, and expect prayers from england!

  24. I saw you blog because one of my friends shared the link. Your journey amazes me and l love to see God actively working. I am a nurse and as I was driving to work last night I was thinking about your family and especially your beautiful Nora rose. I believe in miracles and I believe God is using your beautiful baby to reveal himself. I believe Nora can be healed and I believe she CAN live a normal life without deficit. I have seen unexplained medical miracles and it’s only by an earthly mindset that we just accept diagnosis. So dear sister believe that God can and He will. I am speaking over Nora’s life that not only will she be healthy but that her life and health can only be explained by the wonderful hands of our maker. This is Nora’s time to heal (Ecclesiastes 3:3. Acts 4: 23 to 31. Be bold dear sister and believe!
